1. Location

Uganda is a landlocked country located in East Africa, bordered by Kenya to the East, Democratic Republic of Congo to the West, Rwanda to the South West, Tanzania to the South and to the North by South Sudan.

2. Pearl of Africa

Uganda is also known as the Pearl of Africa (Name given by Winston Churchill) for its good weather, ever green environment and hospitable people and has access to the 3rd Largest Fresh water lake in the world called Lake Victoria and it is also the source of the world’s longest river, The River Nile.

Uganda has a fully fledged banking sector that is monitored by Bank of Uganda. There are many local and multi-national banks operating in Uganda such as Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Citi Bank but to mention a few.

Uganda is a member of the East African community (EAC). The EAC consists of 5 East African countries neighboring each other namely; Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi (www.eac.int) Uganda is also a member of the Common Markets East and Southern Africa (COMESA) which is made up of 19 member countries in Africa namely; Uganda, Burundi, Comoros, DR.Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Seychelles, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Sudan, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe (www.about .comesa.int).
